MIDC used unapproved technique, causing soil beneath Turbhe tracks to cave in: Railway probe
A Central Railway probe revealed the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) caused a June 24 ground cave-in near Turbhe and Kopar Khairane by using an unapproved pipe-pushing method instead of micro-tunnelling for an underground pipeline. This deviation weakened soil supporting tracks, disrupting services for hours. Central Railway is penalizing MIDC and will enhance monitoring of nearby infrastructure projects to prevent future incidents.
