Nifty, Sensex Extend Decline For Second Consecutive Week

On Friday, The Nifty 50 closed 49.85 points, or 0.21%, lower at 23,366.70. The Sensex ended 116.67 points, or 0.16%, down at 74,243.34.

Indian equity benchmarks extended declines for the second consecutive week. The benchmark indices erased weekly gains this morning after the Reserve Bank of India raised its inflation forecast and lower its GDP projections for the ongoing fiscal. Both the NSE Nifty 50 and the BSE Sensex fell 0.7% each this week.

The RBI raised its inflation projection for the financial year ending March 2027 by 50 basis points to 5.1%. The central bank also lowered its FY27 GDP growth forecast to 6.6% from 6.9% projected earlier.
