Iconic fashion designer Bob Mackie, died at the age of 87 according to reports on Monday.
Mackie, who was best known for being one of the pioneers of sparkly and flamboyant fashion design, had designed the classic costumes of celebrities such as Cher and Elton John, whose personalities and brand were reflected in their memorable clothing.
His signature extravagance and glamour exhibited in his approach to fashion design earned him nicknames such as “Sultan of Sequins” and the “Rajah of Rhinestones.”
Mackie’s colourful penchant for feathers, sequins and glamour, were on full display in the 17,000 costumes that he created for the Carol Burnett Show.
