Taran Adarsh’s Post
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh documented its stellar box office run over the weekend in an X post.
‘BLOCKBUSTER WEEKEND… #Awarapan2 smashes the ball out of the stadium in its opening weekend… Look at its day-wise performance – an eye-opener for those who doubted its potential. ‘The best part is that #Awarapan2 has performed exceptionally well at Tier 2 and Tier 3 centres, especially at non-national chains and single screens… In the recent past, #BhoothBangla, #WTTJ, and #Dhamaal4 had brought respite to exhibitors there…
‘Now, Awarapan2 has brought back the House Full boards. ‘Awarapan2 has emerged as the THIRD HIGHEST *opening weekend* grosser of 2026 [Hindi films], after Dhurandhar2 and Border2. ‘With Toxic arriving on [Wednesday] 26 Aug, Awarapan2 has a clear, open run to accumulate a massive total… Will it touch ₹ 200 cr, ₹ 250 cr, or go beyond?… Only time will tell,” he wrote.
About Awarapan 2
Directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Vishesh Bhatt under the banner of Vishesh Films, Awarapan 2 is a sequel to the 2007 film Awarapan. The film stars Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi alongside Emraan Hashmi.
Emraan Hashmi’s fans are going gaga over the film, praising his charisma and aura, although the film received mixed reviews from critics.
The film clashed with Sunny Deol and Rajkumar Santoshi’s Batwara 1947 at the box office and went way ahead of the latter one in terms of box office numbers.
