Chandigarh Consumer Commission penalised EPFO Rs 50,000 for a decade-long delay in transferring provident fund. Software glitches were dismissed as an excuse for the significant lapse. The commission found EPFO guilty of deficiency in service and unfair trade practice, ordering compensation for the employee’s prolonged wait for his PF funds.
