UPI system changes: New NPCI rules kick in from August 1 – All you need to know

Starting August 1, 2025, UPI transactions will undergo key changes aimed at boosting efficiency and security. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) is capping balance inquiries and limiting bank account access via API to prevent system overload. Restrictions on UPI Autopay during peak hours will also be implemented.
