Shubman Gill named India’s new Test captain ahead of England tour

Shubman Gill, 25, has been appointed as India’s Test captain, succeeding Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The BCCI announced a new-look squad for the upcoming five-match Test series against England, starting June 20. Gill, who has captaincy experience in T20Is and the IPL, will lead India in the ICC World Test Championship 2025–27 cycle, beginning with the England tour.
