Stocks, metals bleed on weak economic data

On Thursday, across Asia, the Nikkei index in Japan closed 0.9% lower while the Shanghai Composite in China and sensex in India each closed 0.6% lower. In Europe in late trades, FTSE in the UK was down 0.8% while Dax in Germany was down 1%. In early trades in the US, the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite was down 1.6%, Dow Jones index was down 1.1% and S& was down 1.2%.
