Mercedes-Benz agrees to pay $149.6 million to settle multistate emissions allegations

Mercedes-Benz and parent company Daimler AG will pay $149.6 million to settle allegations of installing “defeat devices” in over 211,000 diesel vehicles. These devices allowed cars to pass emissions tests while exceeding legal limits for nitrogen oxides during normal operation. This settlement resolves remaining legal proceedings tied to diesel emissions in the U.S.
