Clean energy push: Tata Power to buy 40% stake for Rs 1,572 crore in Bhutan hydro SPV; move to boost regional green footprint

Tata Power is investing Rs 1,572 crore to acquire a 40% stake in a special purpose vehicle for Bhutan’s 1,125 MW Dorjilung hydropower project. This strategic move, executed through a shareholders’ agreement with Druk Green Power Corporation Ltd, will bolster Tata Power’s clean energy portfolio and hydropower presence. The acquisition is expected to be completed in tranches within six months.
