Mortgage trends: US 30-year rate slips to 6.27% this week; housing sales remain sluggish

US mortgage rates have dropped again this week. The average 30-year mortgage rate is now close to its lowest point for 2025. This easing is due to falling Treasury yields and expectations of Federal Reserve rate cuts. Homebuyers are finding some relief. Rates on 15-year mortgages also saw a slight decrease.
