Supreme Court to decide if securities tax on stock trading valid

The Supreme Court will examine a plea challenging the constitutional validity of Securities Transaction Tax (STT). A trader alleges STT, levied at 0.1% on buy and sell sides, amounts to double taxation and is punitive, as it’s paid regardless of profit or loss. The court has sought a response from the Centre.
