Inflation watch: WPI rises to 0.52% in August after two months of deflation

India’s wholesale price inflation increased to 0.52 percent in August. This reverses two months of deflation. The rise is due to higher prices for food, manufacturing, and transport equipment. Food article deflation softened. Vegetable prices saw gains. Manufactured product inflation also increased. Fuel and power remained in deflation. Retail inflation also inched up.
