Starting August 10, 2026, the Google Drive desktop app will no longer support backups for Google Photos. Users are required to switch to the Google Photos app to continue folder backups smoothly. Thankfully, existing photos will remain intact and secure. However, to enable new automatic backups, users must adjust their settings, as this change affects only computer folder backups, leaving phone backups unaffected.
