‘Examining impact’: India’s first response to 100% pharma tariffs by US; concerned ministries ‘monitoring matter’

India is closely monitoring the potential impact of the US’s proposed tariffs of up to 100% on imported branded and patented pharmaceutical drugs, set to begin October 1. The relevant ministries are examining the matter, recognizing the US as India’s largest pharma export market, accounting for approximately $10 billion in FY25.
